Help Us Feed Hungry Central Virginia Residents: Bring Canned and Dry Food Items to Commonwealth Law Group

December 8-December 20

It's a shocking statistic: nearly 200,000 Central Virginia residents struggle with hunger—including 50,000 children in addition to families and seniors. One in six Central Virginians doesn't know where their next meal will come from.

Commonwealth Law Group wants to be part of the solution to this problem. For 12 days this holiday season, December 8 through December 20, CLG is operating its "12 Days of Christmas Food Donation Challenge."

"As a community-minded law firm, knowing that so many residents in Central Virginia face hunger every day inspired us to try to make a difference," explained Holly Murray, CLG Paralegal.

"We've challenged two local area law firms–Christina Pendleton & Associates and Halperin Law Center—to see which of us can collect the most food as measured in pounds," Holly continued. "We hope this friendly challenge will exponentially increase the impact we can make to fight hunger in Central Virginia."

How to Participate: Shop & Drop

  1. Shop: Purchase any or all items from FeedMore's "Foods to Donate" list (below). Please, no glass containers.
  2. Drop: Drop off your food items—we'll be excited to see you and say hello!

When: Bring donations between December 8—December 20, 2017.

We'll collect all donations, then deliver them to FeedMore on December 21 for distribution to local area residents who are hungry this holiday season.

Feed More is Central Virginia's core hunger-relief organization, running both the Central Virginia Food Bank and Meals on Wheels. FeedMore coordinates with 300 partner agencies dedicated to providing nourishment to our friends and neighbors who face hunger daily.

Which Food Items to Donate

FeedMore specifically requests the following food items:

  • Peanut Butter: Creamy or crunchy
  • Lean Canned Protein: Tuna, salmon or chicken packed in water
  • Canned Vegetables: Low sodium or no salt added
  • Canned Fruits: In its own juice or water
  • Tomato Products: Canned spaghetti sauce or dried tomatoes
  • Beans: Canned or dry
  • Whole Grain Cereal: Hot or cold
  • Whole Grains: Pasta, brown rice, quinoa
  • Healthy Snacks: Fruit cups, raisins, granola bars

"We encourage everyone to stop by CLG and drop off food items for FeedMore," Holly continued. "While we do want to win this challenge by donating more food items than our competitors, more importantly, we want to help feed as many Central Virginia residents as possible by making a significant donation of food items to FeedMore."

We appreciate each and every food donation, no matter the size. By working together, we can help win the battle against hunger in Central Virginia.
